SWAPPING COCONUTS FOR CAMELS
It’s not often I spend a whole month away from Bali , but during November my partner Sue (who many of you know) and I took off on a group golfing tour to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
I thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone wanting to take in 2 amazing cities and some first class golf, with some sand dune bashing and camel riding thrown in for good luck.
The contrasts between those two cities and Bali are about as wide as it gets , and Bali could certainly learn a thing or two about building regulations, infrastructure etc etc – but then Bali has it’s own charms that the UAE will never match. Plus, getting a beer is a lot easier, and cheaper in Bali !
Once the tour finished we decided to take in a few days of the European tour final – aka the Race to Dubai – held at the Jumeriah – Earth course.
Great course and watching world class pros reach 560 meter par 5’s in two with ease despite a lake guarding the green is always an amazing experience , and a serious reality check to any of us mere mortals who ever think we’re playing well !!
Enough of all that – December it’s back to Bali and time to start putting the final touches in place for Golf Week 2019. The TOC will email you all once it’s finalised , but I can tell you that plans are underway to make the final round Ambrose event a much bigger extravaganza than it has been in previous years. All will be revealed shortly.
Until next month…
Good golfing
